In February 2022, the lives of countless Ukrainians were forever changed when Russia invaded their homeland. The resulting devastation forced many families to flee their homes and seek refuge in neighboring countries. Among these destinations was Moldova, a small nation roughly the size of Maryland. Despite its limited resources, Moldova has opened its arms to the displaced Ukrainians in their time of need.
Justice & Mercy International (JMI), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations, has been actively working in Moldova for years. As the crisis unfolded, JMI quickly mobilized to provide aid to the Ukrainian refugees who had lost everything. With the help of their generous supporters and dedicated Moldovan staff, JMI has been able to offer immediate assistance to those most in need, helping them regain stability and hope for a better future.
For this project, our team traveled to Moldova and spent four days documenting the stories of resilience and courage emerging from this crisis. We conducted interviews, visited refugee centers, and experienced firsthand the impact of the 2022 war on the lives of Ukrainians. Our goal is to create a compelling visual narrative that highlights the incredible work of Justice & Mercy International and raises awareness about the ongoing needs of the Ukrainian refugees in Moldova. Through this project, we hope to inspire continued support for JMI’s efforts and foster a sense of global solidarity with those affected by the conflict.
