Young Life’s Developing Global Leaders (DGL) program is dedicated to transforming the lives of young adults in some of the world’s poorest developing countries. Through sponsorship, DGL provides full-ride college scholarships and a chance to attend university within their own country while remaining actively engaged in local ministry. Since 2009, the program has awarded over 1,500 scholarships in more than 64 countries, helping to break the cycle of poverty for many families and empowering future leaders to make a lasting impact on their communities.
For this project, we embarked on an unforgettable journey to Tanzania, where we joined a group of men, including recording artist Brandon Heath, to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with Beyond Adventures. During this ten-day expedition, we documented the inspiring story of Brandon and his DGL student, Raja, whom he and his family sponsor. This once-in-a-lifetime adventure provided a unique opportunity to showcase the profound impact that the DGL program has on the lives of young people like Raja.
Throughout the trip, we captured the incredible bond between Brandon and Raja, as well as the breathtaking scenery of Mount Kilimanjaro. Our goal is to share their remarkable story with others, highlighting the life-changing power of the DGL program and inspiring more individuals to get involved in sponsoring future leaders.
